Bastille Day 2022

On Thursday July 14th over 1,000 guests gathered at the Ambassador his Excellency Vincent Guérend’s residence on Ailesbury Road in Dublin, to celebrate Bastille Day. There was a wonderful festival atmosphere with various stalls displaying all things French from Alliance Francaise, L’Occitane and refreshments.
The Cremona LegionÉire Dance Force’ who combine Irish dancing, uniquely to European classical and 19th century march music, were invited to perform at the event. They wowed the guests with their performance to Beethoven’s Yorckscher Marsch, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, the French March of Saint Cyr and to the Ukrainian Vesnyanka. This troupe of professional Irish dancers, pay homage to La Légion Irlandaise of Napoleon’s Grande Armée and other historical formations of Irish exiles around the world, from the 16th to the 19th century. The dancers wore replica uniforms as originally worn by the Irish Legion infantry of La Légion in the colours of old Ireland, green and gold.
